The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) issued an official communication on the full payment schedule for September 2025, confirming that beneficiaries will know when to expect their monies.
Why The Youth Grant Is Important
Instituted to support unemployed youngsters during their time of job seeking or skills development, the monthly grant payment of R3,070 has become quite the lifeworm of sustenance for such basics as transport, food, and data needed for applying.
One Gauteng beneficiary of 24 years recalls: “This grant helps me survive while I send out job applications. Knowing exactly when I’ll be paid each month gives me peace of mind.”
September 2025 Payment Schedule
The R3,070 Youth Grant, just like all other grants, will be paid out in phases to prevent lengthy queues and banking system overloads. The payment schedule will follow:
- Older Persons Grants: From Monday, 22 September 2025.
- Disability Grants: From Tuesday, 23 September 2025.
- Youth Grant Payments: From Wednesday, 24 September 2025.
- All Other Grants: From Thursday, 25 September 2025.
Beneficiaries are advised that once funds are deposited into their accounts, there is no need to rush and withdraw the money immediately. The money will remain available until it is collected.
Accessing The R3,070 Youth Grant
Payments will be made directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts. However, those without any banking facility may still withdraw payment at:
- Postbank branches.
- Retail stores (Shoprite, Checkers, Pick n Pay, Boxer, Usave, and Spar) partnering in this initiative.
- Authorized SASSA cash pay points set up in rural communities.
To avoid any delays in payment, beneficiaries should verify that their banking details are correct and that any biometric verification that may be required has been fully completed.
