Such incremental increases will help with food, school fees, and healthcare expenditures, among other necessities for families.
Who Qualifies For The Increased Grants?
The eligibility requirements have not changed:
- Old Age Pension – For South African citizens or permanent residents age 60 and above and below the means test.
- Disability Grant – For persons found to be physically or mentally disabled with the inability to work wholly or partially.
- Child Support Grant – For primary caregivers of children below 18 years provided they satisfy the income criteria.
- Foster Child Grant – For legal foster parents.
- Care Dependency Grant – For caregivers of children with severe disabilities.
- War Veterans Grant – For qualifying veterans who participated in the Second World War or Korean War.
- Grant-in-Aid – For persons who require full-time care by another person.
The applicants must continue to produce legally certified ID documents, proof of residence, and in certain cases, medical or legal documents.
