SASSA Grant Increase September 2025 : On account of the increased payments across the various category of grants of the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), there will be welcome changes starting in September 2025, benefiting millions of South Africans who depend on social grants. The announcement comes at a very crucial period for many families barely able to contain food prices, transport, and overall cost of living.
Updated Grants For September 2025
Starting this month, the updated amounts would have been paid as follows:
- The Older Persons Grant (Below 75 Years): R2 315;
- The Older Persons Grant (75 Years and Above): R2 335;
- The Disability Grant: R2 315;
- The Child Support Grant: R530;
- The Foster Child Grant: R1 250;
- The Care Dependency Grant: R2 315;
- The War Veterans Grant: R2 335;
- The SRD Grant (Social Relief of Distress): R370.
Changes such as these are made as a constant effort by the Government to protect vulnerable communities from further degradation and ensure that grant values keep pace with inflation.
Payment Dates For September 2025
SASSA today confirmed the official payment schedule for September. To ensure smooth transactions and prevent congestion at pay points, grants will be released in phases:
- Older Persons Grant: Monday, 22 September 2025.
- Disability Grants: Tuesday, 23 September 2025.
- Children’s Grants and all others: Wednesday, 24 September 2025.
The money will, however, remain in the bank accounts of beneficiaries until withdrawal, so there should be no rush to collect money on the very first day.
How To Access Your Grant
Beneficiaries can access their funds through several channels:
- Direct bank deposits.
- SASSA Gold Card at ATMs or retail stores such as Boxer, Shoprite, Checkers, Pick n Pay, and Spar
- Cash pay points in rural areas for those without bank access
SASSA urges beneficiaries to check that their banking and personal details are updated so as not to face delay with payments.
Why These Increases Matter
For many families, even very little means a lot of support. A pensioner from Limpopo said, “As prices rise with food from one month to the other, those scattered few rand help pick a few basic groceries. It is little to talk of, but it surely helps.
