SASSA Grant Increase October 2025 : SASSA’s grant recipients will be getting a bit of relief this October, as the Agency confirmed the new payment amounts along with the official dates of payment. The increase comes at a time when many households are still scrambling to hold on from the rising food, transport, and electricity costs.

New SASSA Grant Amounts For October

From October onward, those who qualify will notice the customary payments increasing. Namely:

  • Old Age Pension Grant : R2,315
  • Child Support Grant : R560
  • Disability Grant : R2,315
  • Foster Child Grant : R1,250
  • War Veterans Grant : R2,335
  • Grant-in-Aid : R510
  • SRD R350 Grant : Remains at R350

These new amounts represent the government’s determination to cushion vulnerable groups from the impact of inflation so that social support keeps pace with the cost of living.

October 2025 SASSA Payout Dates

SASSA has also announced the payment schedule of 2025 for October:

  • Older Person’s Grant : Thursday, 2 October 2025.
  • Disability Grant : Friday, 3 October 2025.
  • Child Support Grant and other grants : Monday, 6 October 2025.

After release of funds in the system, they remain in either beneficiaries’ bank accounts or collection points, and there is no need to rush to collect the money on the first day, thus allowing the aged and caregivers relief from long queues.

Who Can Qualify For SASSA Grants? 

It depends on the type of grant:

  • If one is a pensioner, they must be 60 years or older and pass the means test.
  • Disability grant: must present a medical evidence.
  • Child Support and Foster Child grants require legal guardianship or custody papers.
  • R350 SRD grant supports unemployed South Africans who meet the requirement of income criteria.

Beneficiaries must all be South African citizens, permanent residents, or refugees legally living in the country.

How To Collect Your Payment

The payments are received through:- 

  • Direct credit to bank accounts.
  • Messrs. ATMs or messrs. retail outlets for cash withdrawal.
  • Pay points approved by Postbank and SASSA.

Beneficiaries are put on warning on scammers, and to adhere to only official SASSA updates.
