It has been confirmed by SASSA that the payment for the Old Age Grant for September 2025 will be processed in the first week of the month. The payment is made to pensioners and those beneficiaries who may be undergoing a review or verification process.
Grant Amounts Updated: Age Matters
- The beneficiaries who are between 60 and 74 years will get the stipend at a rate of R2,315 per month.
- Those older than 75 will get R2,335 per month.
- These increments have been introduced in the 2025 Budget to help out vulnerable families amid the escalating cost of living.
Payment Schedule – Plan Your Month
The staggered payout dates for September 2025 grants are as follows:
- Old Age Grants- Tuesday, 2 September
- Disability Grants – Wednesday, 3 September
- Child Support & Other Grants- Thursday, 4 September
These days apply irrespective of whether you are paid via bank deposit, SASSA card, or cash at retail/pay points.
Heads Up: Biometric Verification In Effect
On 1 September 2025 onward, biometric verification shall become compliant for all new applicants and beneficiaries under review. It is the fingerprint and facial recognition checks that aim at reducing fraud to uphold grant integrity.
SASSA has installed branches’ infrastructures and trained personnel across the country to cater to potential increased verifications processing.
What You Need to Do
- Check your method of payment: Ensure your banking details or collection method is current.
- Make an appointment if under review at a SASSA office: Schedule your biometric verification appointment well in advance, to avoid delays.
- Meanwhile, relax: You can always access your funds, even with a slight delay in collection from the actual scheduled date, so there is no need to rush.
