SASSA Senior Pension Grant October 2025: Full Payment Dates Timetable Released

SASSA Senior Age Pension Grant 2025 : For thousands of older South Africans, the SASSA Senior Age Pension Grant goes beyond being a mere source of income; it is an economic lifeline. Pensioners use their monthly pay-outs mostly to cover food, medical expenses, and transport, with a hike in the cost of living. With October 2025 almost upon us, SASSA has now finally released the official payment timetable for the Senior Age Pension Grant.

What Is The SASSA Senior Age Pension Grant?

The Senior Age Pension Grant, commonly called Older Persons Grant, is provided to South Africans of retirement age that lack sufficient means of income or assets to support themselves. It also strives to allow the country’s senior citizens to retain dignity and some degree of stability in their later years.

The monthly amount thus remains R2,180 for persons aged 60 to 74, while it is set slightly higher at R2,200 for those aged 75 or more.

October 2025 Payment Timetable

It has been confirmed by SASSA that the Older Persons Grant, with or without any linked Grant-In-Aid, will always be paid first during the monthly payment cycle. Payment for the Older Persons Grant is said to start in the first week of October 2025.

It should generally be expected that beneficiaries will have funds made available to them starting from the first working day that is dedicated to older persons, preceding those days on which other grants like the Disability Grant or Child Support Grant are paid.

Payments can be accessed via several channels, such as:

  • Accounts; direct deposits.
  • SASSA Gold Cards: ATM withdrawals.
  • Retail outlets throughout the country.

Why It Matters When Payments Are Made

The actual dates of payment matter for pensioners; many depend solely on that grant, and having it in time aids in the planning of groceries, medication, and monthly bills.

SASSA recommends that beneficiaries do not rush to the collection points on Day One as funding is ensured to be present in their accounts until they are withdrawn. This reduces both the usually long queues and the probabilities of any risk that might befall any vulnerable senior.

How To Qualify For The Grant

Applicants must:

  • Be South African citizens, permanent residents, or refugees residing in South Africa.
  • Be 60 years or older.
  • Pass a means test to prove limited income and financial assets.
  • Not be receiving any other social grant in respect of that person, except a Grant-In-Aid.
