All social grant recipients will want to know the grant payment dates for September 2025 that have just been released by the SASSA Social Grants Agency. The distribution of Old Age, Disability, and Child Support grants will commence in an orderly fashion on September 2, 2025. This article contains the timetable, payment methods, and grant amounts, as well as a step-by-step guide on how to claim the funds without any hassle.
Payment Dates for September 2025
In order to reduce congestion and make sure the grants are paid on time, SASSA has scheduled the payments for September 2025. The following dates have been finalised:
- Old Age Grant: Tuesday, 2nd September 2025
- Disability Grant: Wednesday, 3rd September 2025
- Child Support and Other Grants: Thursday, 4th September 2025
Reviewed Grants: Friday, 5th September 2025
Because of the staggered payment schedule, banks and pay points will not be as busy as they are in other months, which will help beneficiaries in budgeting for collection and withdrawal. Payment point users will not be required to strain themselves to reach payment points on the first day of operations. Grant-related accounts will continue to have accessed funds after the prescribed deposit period.
Updated Grant Figures
The Social Relief of Distress (SRD) Grant of R370 for the August cycle is scheduled for payment from 27-30 August 2025. The dates for the September payments are yet to be decided. The Old Age Grant stands at R2 315; the Disability Grant is also R2 315. The Child Support Grant is R560. The Foster Child Grant is set at R1 250, with the Care Dependency Grant at R2 315. The War Veterans Grant is R2 335 and the Grant-in-Aid is R560. These new figures, effective in September 2025, come after inflation adjustments in April 2025 and will benefit over 19 million grant recipients.
Claiming Your Grant
Beneficiaries are able to access payment through:
- Banking Institutions: This includes deposits directly to a beneficiaries’ banks
- SASSA Cards: This can be used for withdrawals from both ATMs and partnered retailers such as Pick ‘n Pay and Shoprite.
- Cash Pay Points: Designed for beneficiaries without bank accounts to access funds but pay points in isolated locations are deemed unsafe.
- Mobile Money: This is a new option targeted at beneficiaries who are technologically savvy.
In order to eliminate any unforeseen delays, make sure that your banking details are updated either on the SASSA portal or physically at a SASSA office. Payments can be verified online at srd.sassa.gov.za or using WhatsApp (082 046 8553).
Issues To Avoid
A halt in payment processing can occur due to uncorrected bank details or an identity check in progress. Fraudulent transactions are also a risk to SASSA payments, and SASSA specifically states that only one deduction is permitted, a single, 10%, monthly deduction, with a SASSA office or via SMS to 34548 with your id and provider’s name, though this must be reported to SASSA within the time period. Beneficiaries with “referred” SRD status should also check their identities online to facilitate payment.
