SASSA September Grant Payment 2025 : To millions of South Africans this week, a sheep will be let loose. The country has prohibited these grant payments to the people for September 2025, and beneficiaries should be getting payments of up to R2,335.
Who Is Being Paid And How Much?
In the list of payments are social grants:
- Older Persons Grant – R2,315 (R2,335 for 75+)
- Disability Grant – R2,315
- War Veterans Grant – R2,335
- Care Dependency Grant – R2,315
- Foster Child Grant – R1,250 per child
- Child Support Grant – R530 per child
These amounts have become necessary relief to households who are already struggling with the surge in food and transport costs.
When Will The Money Be Paid?
Payments are being staggered to make the process runnable:
- Older persons’ grants are paid first.
- These are followed by disability grants.
- Finally, Child Support Grants and other grants are released.
If the grant is paid into your bank account or onto a Postbank card, the cash reflects directly in the account. There is a cash collection facility at retail pay points as well.
How To Check Your Grant
Would you like to know if your money has arrived? You can:
- Log on to the online portal of SASSA.
- Use the Moya App for an instant update.
- Check with your bank for their balance services.
Having many options means staying out of long queues to check balances is possible.
Why It Matters
Though these grants may just be a few figures on paper, for many families they are the difference between an empty cupboard and something to eat, between stress and a certain stability in life. A slightly higher amount of R20 is paid over and above R2,315 to pensioners age 75 and older to acknowledge the additional needs at this stage of life. Smaller in size but still important is the child support grant that helps parents meet expenses such as uniforms, lunches, and other daily costs.
