SASSA SRD R370 August Payment Schedule: When Will You Get Paid?

The R370 grant is social relief of distress funds designated by the South African government as financial assistance. The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) administers these funds. The R370 SRD grant is very helpful to the recipients, just like the rest of SASSA’s grants. Unlike the rest of SASSA’s grants, the R370 SRD grant funds are not disbursed on a specific date. In August 2025, recipients of the R370 grant need to make notes of the disbursement dates and organise their financial calendars. The purpose of this article is to give information of the payments of the R370 SRD grant in August 2025, the measures one must take to verify the status of their grant, and the subsequent actions if there is an extended waiting period.

Notes for August 2025

SASSA has issued an alert for the SRD R370 payments for August 2025. SASSA has scheduled payments from Monday, 25 August 2025, to Saturday, 30 August 2025. An extra payment date of 8 August 2025 was scheduled for grant payments of those whose payments were approved after a reconsideration request. These payment dates are valid for those beneficiaries whose grant applications were approved and have a specified payment date.Consider withdrawing your grant a couple of days after the pay date. Accessing the funds will be easier, and you will be spared the long queues at the payment centres. As you may be aware, payments take about two to three days to reflect on bank accounts.

How to Check Your Payment Status

Use the Official Channels As Described Below To Verify Your Status:

  • Online: Go to the official SASSA SRD portal at srd.sassa.gov.za. Provide your South African ID and the phone number used during registration and click on “Check Status.” Upon approval of your application, you will offered payment date.
  • WhatsApp: To ascertain the status, WhatsApp the keyword “SASSA” to 082 046 8553. Follow the on-screen instructions. Check the status with the same phone number used during registration.
  • USSD: Dial 1203210# or 1347737# from your registered phone. Provide your ID number and follow the prompts. This option is best suited for users with no internet access.
  • SASSA App and Official Retailers: Download SASSA’s official app or visit their partnered retail shops such as Shoprite, Checkers, and Pick n Pay. Use your ID to check the application status.

Each beneficiary’s payment date will vary and depends on approval batches. This makes it critical to check on one’s application status often.

How To Deal With A Payment That Hasn’t Come Through

If your status says Approved but you don’t have a payment date or payment in your bank after the listed payment date, do the following:

  • Verify Your Bank Details and Check the SASSA Portal: Verify your bank details on the SASSA portal. Payments will be delayed and might not come through if your details are incorrect.
  • Look For Delays in Verifications: Sometimes, payments get delayed due to information checks that need to be done by the Department of Home Affairs and other agencies on behalf of SASSA.
  • Reach Out to SASSA: If the problem continues, call the toll-free number 0800 60 10 11 or email grantenquiries@sassa.gov.za for assistance.
  • In The Case of a Disputed Rejected Status: If your application was rejected (for example, a source of income was found), you may dispute it within 30 days through the SRD appeal website.
