Good News For Beneficiaries! SASSA Grants Increased – September 2025 Payouts

SASSA Grant Increase 2025 : Millions of beneficiaries who rely on SASSA social grants would receive an extra bit of support starting this month. Officially confirmed by the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), grant amounts have been increased for September 2025 to provide relief to the beneficiaries amid mounting living expenses. 

Why The Increase Matters

One of the major economic supports to the family remains the SASSA grant. Every single rand counts when it is paid for groceries, transport, or school fees. The increase has come at just the right time, with food and fuel prices soaring, offering families some relief in their budgets.

The SASSA spokesperson added that the adjustment ensures the grants maintain with inflation yet continue supporting the most vulnerable members of our society.

New Grant Amounts For September 2025

The latest amounts for main SASSA grants are as follows:

  • Older Persons Grant: Increased to R2,315 (for beneficiaries under 75) and R2,335 (for those over 75).
  • Disability Grant: Increased to R2,315.
  • Child Support Grant: To R560 per child.
  • Foster Child Grant: Increased to R1,250 per child.
  • Care Dependency Grant: Adjusted to R2,315.
  • War Veterans Grant: Increased to R2,335.
  • SRD Grant (R370) is still intact, but discussions around future adjustment are ongoing. 

These changes will hopefully bring relief to millions of South Africans, who depend on grants for survival every month.

September 2025 Payment Dates

In addition, SASSA has confirmed the following payment schedule:

  • Older Persons Grants: Monday, 22 September 2025
  • Disability Grants: Tuesday, 23 September 2025
  • Children’s and other grants: Wednesday, 24 September 2025

Beneficiaries are further reminded not to rush on the day of receipt to withdraw the funds. Money will remain in the accounts until accessed.

How To Access Your Updated Payout

Disbursement of payments may be done directly into the bank accounts of beneficiaries, through the SASSA card system, or via some retail outlets and ATMs. Beneficiaries are therefore urged to ensure that they update their banking details and not to divulge any personal information to anyone claiming to assist with grant withdrawals.
